It's rare that I encounter such a tenuous causal leap in my Substack reading. Well done. There are literally too many bad assumptions and fallacies in this sentence to even address in a single paragraph, and the point (which I think is that Republican-led deregulation in the 1980's is a primary factor for the proliferation of internet porn today) is so speculative that I don't even think the writer would commit to it. It seems like one of those things that people write because it ties two developments (GOP economic policies, and the popularity of pornography) together neatly. Maybe he's correct! I would remind him that Reaganomics was 40 years ago and there have literally been hundreds of major cultural and policymaking changes since then. Seems pretty shaky...
