The Fall of Ovarit: A Classic Case Study in Becoming the Thing You Hate

Why the internet's most infamous "radical feminist" echo chamber turned into a pro-Trump circlejerk before shutting down

Back in the days when Reddit still had good communities and hosted different viewpoints, one of my favorites was the subreddit /r/StormfrontorSJW, where users would post vitriolic comments with a few key words removed and others in the comments would have to guess whether the original post had been made by a goose-stepping, sieg-heiling Aryan basement goblin or by a rainbow-haired, privilege-checking Tumblr social justice warrior. Indeed, the only real difference between the alt-right and the woke idpol left is which identities they hate, and the same can be said of another two groups of people who supposedly hate each other, but who have far more similarities than differences: male incels and femcels.

One of the web’s most infamous femcel dens - perhaps the female equivalent of Incels.is - was the invite-only Reddit clone Ovarit. On March 22nd, however, the world of femcels was rocked to its core by a shock announcement from the middle-aged NEET running Ovarit:

When Ovarit had previously shut down for a few weeks in November of 2024, many predicted that it was the beginning of the end for the site - and, indeed, their predictions turned out to be correct. Ovarit is now closing down for good, with April 27, 2025 set as the official shutdown date. The site’s closure, in any case, marks the end of an era for the femcel community and a classic example of how any community that bases itself entirely on divisive idpol will not only inevitably eat each other alive, but will also inevitably turn into the very thing that they claim to hate.

If you are not familiar with Ovarit, it was a site with a userbase that even users of the infamous femcel imageboard Crystal Cafe described as "pearl clutching terminally online losers who are obsesed [sic] with controlling everything bc their lives are a mess."

You know the radfem femcels on Crystal Cafe and Lolcow Farm who cry about "pornsick moids" one minute and then post yaoi and shotacon the next minute (when they aren't accusing each other of being moids and wishing rape and murder on other women for not feministing right)? Well, now imagine that those thirtysomething femcel hikikomori lolcows are about 25 years older, with any sense of humor that they once had completely drained from them and nothing but an endless black hole of crippling psychosis in its place. Ovarit was a site where deeply bitter, miserable, schizo, fiftysomething British biddies went to unironically argue that Lily Phillips choosing to have sex with a hundred men is worse than Gisele Pelicot being raped by dozens of men because Lily Phillips chose to do it. (Nobody trivializes rape and insults actual rape victims more than radfems do.)

Picture an over-the-top parody/caricature of an ultra-censorious, reactionary radical feminist, like a ridiculous spoof of a radfem on a sketch comedy show written by unfunny, out-of-touch conservaboomers (or like the sort of radfem that you might see in the fake editorial cartoons from The Onion). Now picture a site made entirely for such walking, talking, living parodies. Ovarites would often censor the word "men", if that tells you anything.

While Ovarit’s owners refused to give any real reasons for the site shutting down, one can reasonably surmise that it was due to the site increasingly becoming a pro-Trump echo chamber (and many longtime users fleeing as a result). In the last few months, following Donald Trump’s reelection, civil war had erupted on the site over Donald Trump, with many users complaining that the site had become a Trumpist circlejerk. Yes, that’s right: the puritanical, pearl-clutching “kill all men” crowd overwhelmingly voted for the womanizing, serial raping misogynist. If that isn’t peak clown world, then I really don’t know what is. The bitter infighting on Ovarit over Trump hit a fever pitch with a post complaining about the increase of right-wing content on the site, which attracted no less than 494 comments (compared to the usual 5 or so) before, unsurprisingly, being locked by the site’s administrators (who were, ironically, even more authoritarian and capricious than the Reddit tranny jannies that they claimed to hate so much).

Not that there was ever a time when the site's users WEREN'T furiously attacking each other, of course. Like all authoritarian movements based entirely on identity politics, radfems spend far more time attacking each other than they do attacking the people that they claim to hate (in this case, men) - and Ovarit was a perfect example of this in action. While Ovarit's users frequently claimed that they wanted to kill all men (and, bizarrely, they harbored a particular hatred towards gay men), the vast, overwhelming majority of the posts on the site were attacking other women, usually for things like wearing skimpy clothing or being sexual in any way, with so-called "radical feminists" railing against "permissiveness", "degeneracy", and "promiscuity" using arguments identical to those used by Islamic fundamentalists (because, if anyone's ideology should be viewed as the model for female empowerment, it's the Taliban's). To use a different example, one could very easily take an Ovarit post lamenting “sexualization” and “pornification”, change perhaps a few words, and turn it into an Incels.is post malding about how “all women are whores”. “Incel or femcel” works just as well as “Stormfront or SJW”. It should also be noted that users on Ovarit and other radfem sites frequently whine about “SJWs” and “NPCs”, echoing the rhetoric used on manosphere and alt-right cesspools.

In order to understand why a site like Ovarit would become a pro-Trump echo chamber, one first has to understand a basic reality about modern radfems: the current radfem/gender-critical feminist revival has led to a great deal of conservative women dickriding misogynistic right-wing men like Donald Trump and Matt Walsh because "at least they know what a woman is!" - and this seems to be a feature of radical feminism, not a bug. Original radfems, of course, split over the "porn wars" and a great number of them became single-issue voters about porn and decided to work with Republicans to ban it.

Spoiler alert: it clearly did not work! In fact, it, ironically, probably made porn even worse. Reaganomics are why corporations (such as Pornhub and other tech companies) were powerful enough to lobby governments and push pro-porn propaganda all over social media for the past decade. Not to mention, radfems thinking that Trump - the guy who fucked a porn star while his mail-order bride took care of their autistic son - would EVER ban porn is especially laughable (almost as laughable as the idea that one could even possibly enforce a sweeping blanket ban on “porn” - a term which can’t even be objectively defined - in the 21st century). Radfems, like all fanatical ideologues, fixate on one issue and refuse to look at a bigger picture. Sure, the USA might be turning into a traditionalist, hyper-patriarchal, pro-life shithole, but, hey, at least troons are banned now! (At least, until the Republicans remember that banning troons loses money for all of their big pharma donors and lobbyists. In fact, I would seriously bet money on this. Puberty blockers, HRT, cosmetic surgery, and so forth are all far too profitable to ban forever. They will simply get rebranded into something "not woke".) Yes, autogynephilic perverts invading women’s private spaces is indeed a serious threat to women’s rights, but I’d definitely say that Republican politicians denying women basic autonomy over their own bodies is a much bigger one, so voting for Trump to own the troons doesn’t really seem like it should be the feminist thing to do.

Radfems constantly preach "solidarity" while nitpicking and obsessively policing other women - again, completely missing the forest for the trees. Some Mormon with a MAGA husband and five sons will henpeck a normie woman to death for wearing a low-cut top on Ovarit, but who fucking cares about cleavage when you are raising five sons in one of the most aggressively patriarchal belief systems on earth? In recent years, a number of radfem circles have even been outright merging with traditionalist circles - in other words, a classic case of “you’ve become the very thing that you swore to destroy”. However, considering their shared hyper-puritanism and obsessive, psychotic aversion to any and all sexuality, it should come as zero surprise that radfems would ally themselves with the Evangelical far-right. As previously stated, the exact same thing happened decades ago, when radfems allied themselves with far-right Evangelical Christians under the profoundly delusional belief that they would be able to abolish porn if they worked together.

To male incels, anything bad that a man does is because of women controlling him. To radfems/femcels, anything bad that a woman does is because of men controlling her. And, much like male incels constantly accuse each other of being “simps” for “foids”, radfems/femcels have misogynistic slurs that they fling at any woman who even slightly disagrees with them on anything: “handmaiden”, “pick-me”, “cocksucker”, “dickbreath”, “bangmaid”, “gender traitor”, “male-brained”, and so forth (that is, if the radfems/femcels aren’t accusing said woman of being a tranny, which is their usual go-to retort). My personal favorite is “male-brained”, since that is literally trans rights activist rhetoric (which makes it very ironic for so-called TERFs to be using it to attack other women). If this article had been written by a woman, that sort of billingsgate is exactly what I would inevitably receive from them in my comments. However, since I am a filthy moid pig, the Ovarit crowd is, ironically, much less likely to spew their usual bile at me. They are, again, far more concerned with attacking other women than they are with attacking the scrotes that they claim to despise so much. Sure, I might have ripped their entire hugbox to shreds (and even raided it with squirreljaks at one point just to demonstrate that trolling could still be about harmless mischief), but, hey, at least I’m not a “pick-me” woman catering to the male gaze by wearing a low-cut top.

Grifter Anna Slatz - who runs the so-called “radical feminist” website Reduxx and who previously worked for the far-right website Rebel News - is a well-loved figure among radfems whose takes were frequently posted on Ovarit (and who also posted there herself). Unsurprisingly, her bigoted and puritanical views are completely indistinguishable from those of a far-right white nationalist. Fittingly, Slatz is also a favorite in traditionalist authright circles.

Ultimately, Ovarit - just like Crystal Cafe and Lolcow Farm - serves as a perfect example of why radfems are not and will never be taken even remotely seriously. Male incels and femcels can endlessly spew miasmic invective at each other all they want, but, at the end of the day, they are very much the same (and, deep down, they know it) - just like two other groups of people who are very much the same…
