This might be the first time in my life that I'm able to say I don't think I'm chronically online enough to understand any of this

Nothing will make you despise KF like having been active on there as I was. Say what you will about /r/Drama's "le ironic Southpark Centrism" attitude to everything, and it does wear thin after awhile, but it's the best attitude to take toward these sort of things: not taking things or yourself too seriously, as in actually trying to have fun and be funny. It's how they accomplished some very funny trolling campaigns hitting all sides of the political spectrum. I'd frequent /r/Drama's little trolling cove, but they retained reddit styled site design which I never liked, and I'd rather not indulge in what amounts to a time wasting vice.
